Scott Whitehouse

Deacon

Deacon Scott Whitehouse was born in 1951 and raised in Farmer City, IL. Scott grew up in the Methodist Church and was actively involved there. In 1971, he married Janet (an Italian Catholic) and with her encouragement and strong support from the priest at that time (Fr. Motsett) Scott became a Catholic in 1975. Scott and Janet have one daughter, one son and four grandchildren. Scott quickly became active at Sacred Heart Parish in Farmer City. He served as a handy man, CCD teacher, lector, Extra Ordinary Minister, and eventually trustee. Scott and Janet made a Marriage Encounter Weekend and Cursillo weekend in the mid-eighties helping them both to realize a greater call to serve God and His people. Ordained a Roman Catholic Permanent Deacon in the Diocese of Peoria in May 2007, Scott became the first deacon to serve Dewitt County.

"I love to 'serve, work, and play' in that order!"
